Ask yourself this: When you set your last goal, did you reach it? If you didn’t, why not?
We have all failed at something at one time or another. Usually it’s because we set goals that are simply unattainable, we ask too much of ourselves, or we simply set the bar too high. The question is- what do you do once you have failed? How do you finally reach the goal you set for yourself months (if not years) back?
The answer is simple:
Set a reasonable goal, and don’t set the bar too high.
See, it’s that simple! Well, maybe it’s not. Instead of jumping in head first toward your goal, start with small (and consistent) baby steps to get there. This way, each small step is reachable and attainable. Then, give yourself a manageable time frame to reach each (small) goal. Then you have reason to celebrate every time you’ve accomplished something new. Once each small goal has been accomplished, you will have achieved the final, HUGE goal…then you really get to celebrate!
There’s one last component that is most important of them all: you must ask for help. Tell your friends and family your goal and ask them for their help and support along the way. Once they are on board, they are much more likely to be understanding and supportive. If you find you need more guidance and direction, get help from an outside source. Look for someone who is knowledgeable and has experience helping people reach goals similar to yours. Find a program that meets your needs, or a coach that has the education and tools to get you moving in the right direction.
Everyone strives to accomplish something different. Sometimes it just takes slowing down, organizing your time, and asking for help to accomplish something great. We all have the ability to do it- you just have to stay diligent and ask for help. No dream is too big or too small to accomplish.
What are your goals? What have you been tirelessly trying to accomplish year after year? Stop letting your past experiences and results get in your way. Find a way! Finally overcome procrastination- Set goals, and REACH THEM!
